Text about -100 woman give coins project

start 10. June 2011
Dear Good Women
I believe creativity is important for children’s life education. Arts inspire children to dream and learn.
Early 2011, Tellus Art had invited 32 international artists to attend a forum which provided the platform for
cultural exchange between these artists and artists from India to build a global network
of talented artists/art-enthusiasts/people who want to make a difference. It was a challenging and meaningful project.
The theme was "Keep our Planet Alive". The creative painting workshops generated an increase in awareness about sustaining the environment.
Importantly, the children’s voices were heard. A total of 800 children from various schools became invovled in this project.
We were invited to Village Kaliyawala, Jaspur, Uttaranchal, India where discussions were made among the leaders in the city, farmers
and church to develop the village, beginning with the construction of a larger school with better facilities
to meet the educational needs of the children. In line with the theme of the project, each child will plant and care for 2 trees.
Arrangements will be made for collecting and sorting of waste around the village every other weekend.
The city will make sure that there are stable waste containers installed and placed around the village.
In the long term, Tellus Art will continue to secure support for the project with the main focus on
benefits to the children and the development of the village.
Thus, the inspiration for PROJECT 100 WOMEN – GIVE COINS.
Being a part of this journey made me realised how our small coins which may be of little value in our society can make
a big difference to the development of the school in this village. In March 2012, I will be making a trip back with Tellus Art.
In addition, the outcome of 100 WOMEN-GIVE COINS project will further value add to the educational needs
of the children in terms of teaching materials and supplies. In co-operation with the school and Tellus Art,
I will make the purchases for the materials and supplies to the school without any administrative costs.
So, good women, are you interested in being a part of this?
